This picture was taken in 2016. I was living in Houston at the time and every time it rained a piece of art would fall off the wall. Or that time I washed my face and a cockroach 🪳 jumped—leaped—at me when I reached for my towel.

Surely this was not what God had for us.

My husband stuck in a job he hated. Us surviving in an infested apartment with water soaked walls (and probably mold too).

When I look back to 2016, I see the same woman. Faithstrong. Always thinking about God and desiring to go deeper. Always deeper.

I’m overwhelmed to the point of tears but they don’t come.

I can trust both the outcome and the current physical place He has us in. Maybe I stopped putting artwork on the walls but I love my home. Maybe my husband still hates his job but I know it will all work out because He’s gotten us through each job change. Each move. Maybe I don’t live in an infested home but I no longer sleep because I have a daughter who can’t sleep through the night without me. A daughter I prayed for, for many years.

This has been and always will be part of my DNA. To ask, “Where is God in all of this?”

I’m comforted by the fact that I have grown and yet remained in my calling whether through writing, speaking, coaching, and now photography. The same scarlet thread, a visible reminder that I’m still trusting in God for what’s next.

I love what @emilypfreeman writes in “How to Walk into a Room.”

“But if the process of discernment has taught me anything, it’s that there is almost always no once and for all. There’s only for now. As much as I sometimes yearn for the certainty of roots, I’m beginning to rest in the truth that roots are something we can take with us wherever we go, and that is good and beautiful in its own way.“

At the @refinedconference @drdaltonsmith talked about living in the tension of the unknown.

I can’t describe how unnerving and yet how inexplicably at peace I am about this. My “for now.” I want to live fully present in this moment. Filled with gratitude. And yet I long for more. More of what Jesus has for me and my family. Pray with me?

Every time I go to a conference I always experienc

Every time I go to a conference I always experience a high and a low. I hit my low tonight. What I thought might be God’s leading was clearly NOT.

I applied for a job I thought I was perfect for. They said no. Still processing my discouragement. I’m relieved I found out now instead of further along in the process.

I said yes to God and it’s already on the table.

Please don’t make me figure it out or force my way into my calling, Jesus. I know I’m loved but I still struggle with feeling like I’m never the one who is chosen or invited.

Everything I’ve run so far has never felt like enough. Or that’s it’s ever amounted to anything successful. I think it all comes down to provision. I can look at it two ways.

1️⃣ Without Marc, I definitely would have had to give up writing and speaking a long time ago because I never made any money.

2️⃣ With Marc, I’ve been able to reach a handful of people over a decade.

Surely it’s not about putting a dollar 💵 sign on success.

I didn’t hear You, God. I heard my own voice. Again. That’s humbling. Help me find the wonder again in that burning bush. Speak clearly because I feel like an idiot tonight. And I know I’m not. I’m actually pretty awesome!! And vibrant. And tenacious. And energetic.
