I never imagined just how deep the #DoNotFear posts would go, or how much of an impact they would have on me! I hope they are encouraging you too!
If you didn’t catch the original blog introducing the #DoNotFear 2017 Reading Guide, you can read that here. Every day, I’m still picking one verse on fear and savoring every word. I invite you, if you haven’t yet already, to take the journey with me.
Today’s post on fear was difficult. If I’m honest, it’s because I didn’t take time to listen so that I could hear from the Lord. When I disobey and allow my business and busyness to take the place of God, I push away the voice of God. . In today’s passage, Moses is trying to spell it out for the Israelites. For you and me. Especially me. Do I want to be brought in and given the land that God promised me? Absolutely! Do I want to fear God so that He is for my good always, and that He may preserve me alive? Uhh? I mean yes! . The Hebrew word for alive is Chayah, which means: to live, have life, remain alive, sustain life, live prosperously, live for ever, be quickened, be alive, be restored to life or health. . Deuteronomy 13:1 and Isaiah 38:16 both have a similar Hebrew word that means to dream, to restore to life. . I know now that dreams restore people to health and life. I stand on that promise because God has fulfilled that promise to me many times! But preserve me alive? Some days like today I have to be reminded that God is for my good always, and to stop fighting and striving and pushing others away. It was nice to get out and feel the sun on my soul today. When I came to my senses I remembered-yes-I do want to be preserved alive. I do want to dream. I do want health and life. I do believe, help me in my unbelief. . One of the MOST POWERFUL questions anyone has ever asked me was from my mentor @cindyinc over a decade ago. She said, “The Holy Spirit wants to know, if you were well-what would you do?” I STILL have the list I wrote her in response. It’s crazy that God answered EVERY SINGLE DESIRE OF MY HEART that I wrote on that card. . I believe the Holy Spirit wants to ask YOU the same question tonight. If you were preserved to live and dream and have health and life-would you take it? Would you have the eyes to see clearly to ask Jesus for what you want-like the blind man did when He stood before Jesus? . The Holy Spirit wants to know, if you were well, what would you do for the Kingdom of God? Time is running out and there’s little time left so don’t quit your daydream!!!!! #donotfear #dontquityourdaydream
Good morning friends! The Lord reminded me of Deut. 13:1 & Isa. 38:16 when I was in Deut. 6:24 late last night. To chalam is to chayah. To dream is to live. . I don’t know about you, but when I am blown away by God’s faithfulness it makes me want to run FAST! Most days, I wake up and attack the day in enthusiasm. I don’t drink coffee. I am coffee. I wake up like this!! . Psalm 90:14-15 says, “Satisfy is in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Make is glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, and for as many days as we have seen evil.” . In today’s passage on fear we learn the reason for God moving the Israelites into their promise land “little by little.” We should not be afraid to grow slow like @laracasey of @cultivatewhatmatters says, or be in dread of our enemies because God gives us the victory each step of the way. . “God does not intend for us to lead a resistance-free life. We long to be free from oppression, but God’s method of making us strong is to scatter our enemies that they might one day return. Let us be deeply thankful for those who oppose us, especially within the faith. When friends seem like enemies that is when we need them most. The resistance of our peers…challenges the sinful nature within us. We are self-deceived to some degree” (Live Dead Joy). . I spent some time looking through social media profiles and websites this morning of people who are no longer my friends this morning, and it was a great reminder to allow God to continue leading me “little by little” and not to get hard on myself or others for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle too! #donotfear #littlebylittle #babysteps #bekind #growslow #chasingslow
For as long as I can remember I’ve comforted myself with food. The only problem is that it hasn’t worked. . It wasn’t until February 8th that God sent a woman my way who prayed through this issue with me. I was in tears. Grateful for my mom for sending her my way. She told me to “ask God what I should eat.” I’ve been expecting to go back to my old ways but I haven’t yet. I feel like the Lord opened my ears to hear the silence. He showed me how to refuse my appetitive and what food is loathsome to me (See: Job 6:7). . Then He revealed to me during my Facebook Live video this morning while sharing about the Interlinear Bible that I have yet to look up the two Bible verses that God used to heal me and restore me to life many years ago: Hosea 6:1-3 & 1 Peter 5:10. . I only got as far as Hosea 6:1! The Hebrew word for “torn” to pieces literally means to feed, which is also found in Proverbs 30:8 that says, “feed me with the food that is needful for me.” Needful means limit, something prescribed, due, or portion. . Then today, I LITERALLY HAD NO IDEA THE VERSE/MEME I ALREADY CREATED WAS ON FOOD. I’m in tears at this point. Deuteronomy 8:3 says, “He humbled you and let you hunger and fed you…that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” This is how we keep his commandments and walk in His ways by fearing Him. . Friends, I can’t even. I am set free from food! I am set free from food! The Lord is my portion. I am so so so so so hungry for God. I crave more of Him!! I want to be filled by God. The Lord is my portion! #donotfear #foodisnottheenemysatanis #mandoesnotlivebybreadalone

You have two options to follow along with me:
While reading each verse, ask these four questions:
- What does the verse say about God?
- What does the verse say about man?
- How does the verse apply to me right now?
- How can I apply the verse to my personal life starting today?

Many of you have asked me where I’m finding the Hebrew words (The Interlinear Bible), and how I put these daily posts together. I find my photos on Unsplash and put them together on Canva!
