This weekend, I had the opportunity to travel back to California.
I hadn’t been home since we moved last February to Texas. I was incredibly blessed to be there for the release of my client, Lisa K. Spivey’s new book Big Girls DO Cry. She worked hard last year to put her heart on paper, and I am so proud of her.
Enjoy this except from her book that released on Valentine’s Day. Please purchase a copy here. Let’s help support her new ministry!
“I remember so clearly as I was nearing my fortieth birthday, I was looking in the mirror one morning, and I noticed a lot more wrinkles on my face. It was like literally overnight they appeared. I was aging right before my very eyes. I thought maybe I should consider getting a face lift. As quickly as that thought came, I heard the Holy Spirit speak to my heart saying that I didn’t need a face lift, but rather a faith lift.
I started thinking more and more about getting a faith lift. I quickly realized the more grounded I am in God and my desire for Him—the more my faith would grow.
I began to trust God.
Each day I made a conscious decision to desire God and build on my relationship with Him. The more I trusted God in whatever was happening day to day, the more I wanted more of Him. This was, and continues to be, my safety net. The bottom line once again was to let go of the control and let God guide the way in every area of my life.
I can honestly say that I am so glad I made the choice not to have a face lift, but rather get the faith lift instead. It was the best gift I gave myself for my fortieth birthday.
It is the gift that keeps growing in Christ!
There are so many great examples in the Bible of people who paved the way in their example of faith. I have always enjoyed the faith of Shadrach, Meshac, and Abednego. These three young men defied King Nebuchadnezzar by their refusal to bow down and worship a false idol. Because of their disobedience, their penalty was death.
They were going to be thrown into a fiery furnace.
Before they were thrown into the furnace, they responded to the King with great faith. They told him that they did not need to defend themselves in this matter. The God they served would be able to save them from the fiery furnace. If He chose not to, they were still not going to serve his gods or worship the image of gold he had set up.
The obedience of these three faithful servants of God ignites my faith to a new level.
The trial through which they were walking confirmed that they knew the God they served was who He said He was. They walked in great confidence, knowing whatever the outcome, God was with them. To have the blind faith these saints had and demonstrate it in action is a powerful witnessing tool.
Into the furnace they went.
Nebuchadnezzar was astounded that the fire did not consume them. However, what amazed him more was that when he looked in the furnace he did not see three men, but rather four. The fourth was the Son of God.
God’s word is true, as we see demonstrated here, that God never left them. It is the same for you and me. I truly believe that God uses this Biblical teaching to help us understand that, although we will encounter fiery trials, we can rest assured that God will be with us, sustain us, and deliver us through His power.”
Question: Do you need a faith lift today?

Celebrating with a client in person is the best. Enjoy these two pictures below!
